Obesity & Diabetes Trial Recruitment: WCR 27-Screening Case
A Phase 3 obesity and diabetes study paired early patient engagement with additional staffing before activation.

WCR-reported study results
Match patient access with people
WCR reports adding full-time team capacity and making new hires before the study started. That preparation ran alongside engagement with practice patients. It addressed both sides of the recruitment plan: access to potential participants and people available to support their screening activity.
Read the timing carefully
Twenty-seven participants were screened within the first month after activation. Thirteen subsequently randomized, with approximately one month between screening and randomization. These are different intervals. The source does not classify the remaining screened participants’ outcomes, and it does not say that all 13 randomized during the first month after activation.
Plan the work around the recruitment estimate
A larger candidate pipeline creates demands for records, appointments, procedures, and follow-up. WGR helps sponsors and physician partners assess those demands against available staffing and visit capacity. Coordinating outside assessments, nutrition, and lifestyle support is part of making the recruitment plan workable.
