Prepare before the study opens

WCR describes engaging private-practice patients before activation and coordinating the first screening shortly after the site opened. Five participants were screened during the first month after activation and subsequently randomized. The first visit was one milestone within a longer recruitment effort.

Look beyond the initial group

The case reports an approximate ongoing pace of five screenings per month, with totals of 22 screened, 20 randomized, and two screen failures. Ophthalmology and counseling appointments were part of the coordination work. The two-day measure refers only to the first screening, not the time to reach the final randomization total.

A useful question for site selection

Ask how a site will sustain candidate follow-up after its first group has entered screening. WGR connects recruitment activity with local clinical review, available appointments, and the required outside services. This allows sponsors and sites to discuss both the opening plan and the work that follows.
