Cardiovascular Clinical Trial Startup: WCR’s 43-Day Case
A Phase 2b cardiovascular study shows why activation work and preparation for the first screening belong in the same plan.

WCR-reported study results
Two workstreams, one opening visit
WCR reports that budget, regulatory, and IRB activities progressed alongside systems preparation and candidate identification. The clinical team was preparing for the first screening while the administrative work moved toward activation. That parallel effort matters because permission to open a study and readiness to see a participant are separate milestones.
What the reported timeline includes
Site selection took place on July 15, 2026. Activation followed on August 12, and the first screening occurred on August 27. WCR also reports that an initial group of five participants subsequently randomized. The 43-day interval ends at first screening; it does not describe the time to complete that group’s randomization.
The sponsor conversation this supports
A startup discussion can identify two sets of dependencies: what is required to activate, and what is required to conduct the first visit. WGR uses that distinction when coordinating contracts, regulatory work, trained coverage, and recruitment preparation. Ask who owns each dependency and how the two plans will meet at the first appointment.
